Something to ponder

Hello everyone!

Soooo...as you can see, I haven't been keeping up all that well with the blog.  Oops.  Apparently two posts in one week means no posts for a month :)

ANYWAY, there's something I'd like to talk about on this cold, crisp March morning.  I was listening to the radio on my drive in to work today.  This is odd, because I almost always listen to my iPhone.  But on this morning, I was listening to local radio.  The DJs posed a question to their audience: If you could have a fantasy home and have anything in it, money or common sense not being an object, what would you have?  I heard callers say that for their fantasy home, they would want a servant for every aspect of upkeep, a robot that made dinner, walls, floors, ceilings, etc., that were fish tanks.  Personally, my fantasy home would have a state-of-the-art large kitchen filled with only Pampered Chef products.  I enjoyed listening to the comments until I heard a caller say: "I want a good man, because it'd have to be a fantasy to have a good man."

Now, I'm not trying to get on a soap box or high horse or anything.  But this is my blog, and I'll comment how I like :)  This particular response bothered me, and I pondered on it during the rest of my drive.  How is it that a good man, or a good woman, is a fantasy?  I get that we live in a society where it's funny to say something like that.  After the caller gave her response, everyone had a good laugh about it, somewhat jokingly affirming this idea that a good man is indeed a fantasy.  I'm thankful that this idea is reality for me.  I have a good man, nay, a great man in my life.  I'm not saying my husband is perfect.  He's not.  But guess what?  Neither am I.  The traits and characteristics we both possess, that were given to us by God, have made us perfect for each other.  And I thank Him every day for bringing the two of us together.

Just thinking out loud here, what if we as a society changed our mindset about the way we think is funny about this subject?  Do you think then we would change our own worldview, thus changing this stereotype?  The mind is very powerful, and I believe change would happen.  Gone would be the "jokes" about there being no good men/women in the world.  We would all be grateful for the person we have.

I want to be clear that I'm not judging the caller.  Maybe she was having a rough morning, or has had bad "luck" in the past with men.  My point is that her response got me to thinking, and she inadvertently made me remember how grateful and thankful I am for what God has done in my life.  Perhaps I'm getting too deep with the topic.  But since it was on my mind, I wanted to share with you, my friends.  I leave you with this thought: know in your heart and mind that a good man/woman exists, and that person will indeed exist.

Visualizing my large, state-of-the-art, all Pampered Chef equipped kitchen right now :)

Have a wonderful day!
Nicole
